Round the Island Race

Wednesday 23rd August 2017

Sponsored by

PETER CLARKE’S

BOAT YARD LTD

Since it was first run in 1970, hundreds of competitors and spectators have enjoyed this unique race for dinghies that circumnavigates Mersea Island and in order to do this, boats are carried across the Strood Causeway.

This year there are likely to be delays from 13.00 until 15:30 hours since the majority of boats will cross around the time of high water (14:15).

We thank you for your patience and apologise for any inconvenience. Spectators are welcome at the Strood but please be aware that the boats need free passage in order to cross the road.

Entry to the race can be made on line only through www.sailracer.co.uk or through the WMYC web page

Closing date for entry is 1400hrs on Wednesday 16th August.

For the first time we hope to track all the competitors as they go around and this can be viewed on the big screen at the West Mersea Yacht Club

Competitors are reminded that they need to make their own arrangements for transporting their boats across the Strood this year.
